You will soon find out that those small type tanks are usually more difficult to maintain. Dry start is fine to do carpets, if you have a slope make sure to tilt your tank. Ferts, soil, and maintinence are just some of the few things that get hectic with these type of tanks.

Good Idea,I started to do the same thing,I built the stands 28' long is the longest with only 1 center support so I could see nothing but glass for the most part.I used tgi trusses to span the distance. These trusses are used on two story houses between floors and are very strong.I will try to post some pictures. For some reason I can't load pictures still.
I would love to see fotos of those large spans!

I would say so. Still need to make it a sanctuary. Just feels like garage now lol.
BTW I need to do something with 15 gal rimless tank. Was thinking iwagumi. It has 50 cardinals in it so far. Any suggestion rick?
I want low maintenance tho.
Discus dave.
Iwagumi has the potential to be low maintenance. However, being that it is a smaller tank, a large-ish bioload can make it be more maintenance prone.
I've always wanted to make an iwagumi that had a divide with two types of soil so that it mimics a real life landscape with a tree (moss). As it stands right now, that would be a huge undertaking, and maintenance wouldn't be low, that's for sure.
So, in the end, I would suggest a flora carpet that doesn't require co2, have some nice stones, and only put the tetras in, but monitor the nitrates often and adjust accordingly.
Is this a 15g L?

50 cardinals in a 15 gallon? thats a surprising density, and here i was concerned about having 100 cardinals in a 60 gallon LOL. They arent the smallest fish once grown but I am sure you know that.
dkeef, very nice set up. I see that is your bass tank you can still add some of CT wide Bar datnoids. Check out some of mine monster tank :http://forum.simplydiscus.com/showth...03#post1125303
Now that is a fishroom! Never saw one with so many big tanks all in one room. WC day must be a real chore? Where does all the waste water go? Is this a basement? A tank of all Australian rainbows would be awesome. Great room Dave,
