It was just for a exhibit so not long term. You can do freshwater mollies and some other live bearers in marine tanks.

This has to be a brackish or slightly salty tank. Or some crazy substitute for salt. Point is it can't be pure freshwater. Ever seen a saltwater fish in a freshwater dip? They don't swim like those clowns are swimming. Believe me, I've accidently put freshwater into my saltwater tank before during a WC....results not good.

Not real sure what the point of this is.....I find it quite cruel.

Yes you are right about live bares but some of the others in there like the gold fish? Great video would love to know how they did it.

I agree - there must be at least some salt in that tank. However, a couple of those clown fish didn't look like they were doing so well. I don't see that as being sustainable for the salties. I also agree that it's cruel for them.

When I first had a saltwater tank many years ago, the cheapest way to cycle the tank was to use either goldfish or mollies, I chose mollies.

You start with freshwater and gradually add your marine salt a little at a time until your reach your target (1.026) salinity. Out of the dozen mollies I threw in the tank, only 3 died in a week, the rest were just fine.
