    Default Update on discus

This is a photo of the discus that I started with in August 2012 when they were dime size. Here one is now. Four of them are 6+ inches diameter and the little one is about 4 inches diameter

    Enjoy,
    Dave

I bought these (dime size) from Joe Gargas off of aquabid. The sheet I have on them is that they are a cross between a blue snakeskin male and a wild blue pearl female.

Later on when I have more tank space I might try my hand at wilds or some tank reared wild strains, but I will purchase stock from here as I was uneducated when I purchased these discus

I have some of Joes he called super reds. They're more like pigeons right now but they're slowly getting their red. I also got some flachen snakeskins. I only 2 of those survive shipping and couple months ago lost one to what I guess we're gill flukes. I only have 1 left he's got more of the flachen look very few spots. They're all healthy now after treating with Prazi thank goodness. I got 4 of each and have 3 reds now and 1 blue.

Did they get to 6 quickly or did it take them a while?

Two got to six inches within eight months and actually were spawning producing wigglers at a tad over a year. It took two more 1.5 years to get to the six inches and the last one is still under six inches.

Lol mine have been sporadic like that. 2 are around 5 or more the other 2 are about 4 guess they're runts. One stunted itself it had some kind of fit for several weeks and wouldn't eat. We thought it'd die. It'd swim upside down and on the top of the water darted around all the time. Got to hanging by the filter intake. Crazy little dude but it quit and came around one day lol. So it's a runt. The blue one has always been healthy it's just a runt as well.
