You can definitely tell there is heckel blood in those fish. The patterning, the face shape, and the overall body shape are dead giveaways. I used to have heckel x turks and they were some of my favorite fish.

John, do you think the spotting from the eruption parent would come through in future generations if you bred the siblings to each other, or back to a parent? Or is it likely they'll all be striated like this?

I believe that last one is the Florida Discus one I was drooling over on Matts photo thread. All look stunning. That Heckel cross is a beaut as well.

Sry Pat, you were in the middle of posting when I replied. I meant the last discus on Post#18.

It is amazing what lack of WCs and food do to the fish. I came home to two nine month old Altum Floras being all flirty with each other.

Not sure Ryan. The other pair is 9 bar and a SS. Per JamesP about 10% of the F2's show the heckle bar. I would guess at least some of the SS will show spotting but I do not know the coverage. I think it will fun to play with though. I will be moving both pairs to my breeding rack sometime this week. Around here it can be challenging to get much spawning in summer time but if I can get them going I will post some crappy pics of them...LOL.

I also came home with a pair from JamesP. Mine was the SS pair of heckel cross. Summer is the same issue with me John. Fishroom just gets too hot. May be Sept/Oct before I get to see what will come.

Well with me having 2 pairs, you have one pair, and JamesP ( who I will call Jim from here on out ) have whatever he kept I would expect several nice heckle barred fish at the 2016 NADA show.

Yep....old breeders secret. Don't do a water change for a couple of weeks, just remove the solids and then hit them with a big WC. If they are close at all they will spawn.....but lets keep it a secret just between us....
