True. I jumped to conclusions there. I logged out and saw the ad.

Thanks, good to know. One good thing is that I found out about limiting my ad tracking in settings.

Indeed you can. You can get viruses and malware on almost any device. My ipad got a mean virus as while back and I had to factory reset it. I'm not saying that is what is going on here, but just wanted to inform you that it can get malware.

You know a few days ago I went looking for something on my sale page and noticed that the video was only coming up with half the video showing. I wasn't sure what was going I thought maybe I did something wrong loading the video. I was a little confused. But It should work with or without logging in I'm not sure why it doesn't....I don't know good question...Josie

The way I understand it to be is this:
SD is charging for memberships to help Al cover the costs of our forum, much needed, but if you don't have one of the paid subscriptions then you will indeed see ads here and there in posts. If you do have a subscription, or are a sponsor, admin, etc. you do not see the ads. Am I correct here or did I misunderstand something?

Barb, membership is free. Anyone with a premium subscription, sponsor, or staff member do not see the ads. The ads are a revenue source for the forum.

    Joan and everyone else...
    Please read this thread....

    http://forum.simplydiscus.com/showth...ks-and-others)

I have done my best to keep the ads to a minimum, and as unobtrusively as I can and have taken painstaking steps to be transparent about it and about anything regarding ads and banners. Occassionally the ads may be a distraction but it can't be helped at this time. Please understand that I would much prefer we did not have them..I avoided and resisted the ads for years and years. I just can't do that any longer. These ads are helping me bring you the forum for free. I'm sorry if they inconvenience anyone, but facts are I need them.

If anyone does not want to see them, and wants to support the forum... the fix is easy. Subscribe to a premium membership here..

Homesteaders, silver, gold, platinum and sponsors DO NOT SEE ADS.

    Thanks,

I absolutely understand all of that and I'm not trying to be disrespectful. My point was that sponsor's paid space is being shared and blocked by external ads and I doubted that they were aware of it as they don't see what many of us see. I questioned whether the ads were randomly placed or if there was any control over their placement. If so, perhaps some thought might be given to their placement in sponsors already paid for sections. My point was not about me being annoyed by ads, I'm not. I get that this is a business and the ads are a part of that business. I just pointed out something that I felt seemed a bit off that you and the sponsors might not be aware of.

    Joan,
I didnt take your post as being disrespectful or complaining. My reply was just to explain to everyone my position on the ads.I do have some control over ad placement and am aware of where they are positioned on the forum. These locations were chosen to be as unobtrusive as possible. I honestly wish we didnt have them but they are part of the forum for the time being. If a sponsor has a problem with them being there they can talk to me. As a side note I currently block all non-sponsor discus sellers ads from the entire forum.

Thank you for your feedback and concerns.

Malwarebytes continues to block this site in Chrome when viewing the message board. Otherwise Chrome works fine (Monsterfishkeepers, Scapeclub, and other message boards).
It is only this site that has the Chrome/malware issues..

This is after cleaning my computer from 5 Malware programs....
Explorer does not have the Malware issues.

While this site has been a wonderful place of information and interaction I may be forced to say goodbye if the pervasive adds and Malware continue to dominate my experience.

The adverts are a necessary evil as we (Al) has to pay for the server that this site uses. As for malware, I'm sorry but that is an issue on your pc, I can categorically confirm there is none being generated from this site.
