    Default Breeding/Water

If i'm using R/O in my breeding tank after the eggs hatch when is the best time to switch the fry over to regular water? Should you do it gradually or just do it?

Once they start to wiggle I change them over. Their next WC is tap water.

Have you tried breeding in your tap water? My fish breed like crazy in city water, no need for R/O.

What is your tap TDS? In Utah we have very hard water. At my house it is 250-290 tds. My pairs spawn but eggs wont fertilize. I use RO to get below 100 and then they fertilize.

You're right, our water here is very soft for city water. TDS comes in around 120, I think.

His water should be fairly close to mine. He might get a few wigglers but to get a good hatch he will probably need RO.

I use straight RO water Mixed with discuss trace elements . My water is on hard side here in Florida. I have had good luck with the RO water.
