Default Project Log - Tank Rack

With the coming and going of the latest Petco Dollar per Gallon sale, and the concurrent response of someone on the forums for the use of a shelving unit sold at Lowes as a set of stands, it came to my attention that I could have a 4x 40G tank rack for about $280! With that in mind, I bought the tanks during the sale, and the shelving unit about a week later. The initial idea was to tear apart the greenhouse to have the tank rack there but after going into the greenhouse and seeing that it is literally crumbling away and is HOT, that it was not the best place to raise any sensitive fish species.

With that in mind, I rearranged my room to accomodate the rack of tanks and now one of my walls is lined with tanks.

Tank rack video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WhZrKiqfRQ4 Thanks to Aquarium Co-Op for the idea!

Aquariums used: 4x Tetra (Aqueon) Model 40B tanks: http://www.aqueonproducts.com/produc...-aquariums.htm

Racks were assembled according to the video and filled.

    Specs of each tank:
    • 40 Gallon Breeder tank 36x18x16
    • 125w Eheim Jager Heater
    • Aquatop MA-500 air pump
    • Aquatop CAF-60 Sponge filter
    • Airstone under the heater

Each tank is set to 82F and currently only one of the four tanks is occupied.

    Tank Rack - Success!

    Plans for the Future:

    • Apply barriers between each tank to avoid cross-contamination between tanks by the bubbles.
    • Apply eggcrate lids to the rest of the tanks, or actual glass tops.
    • Get Beamswork LED pent 6500k lights over each tank so I can see inside each clearly.
    • Purchase a linear air pump from Jehmco.
