. Please explain the problems with your fish. When did you notice the problems and did anything unusual happen that you think started them?
My snakeskin discus was acting sluggish. after having lost 6 of the 9 discus I bought in the last 3 months I am VERY sad. I quarentined him immediately to TRY keep my others alive. I added salt to the Q tank, been changing 50% daily. Then white has developed on gill plate. Body seems to have excess slime now also.

Shelly, unless we were on your friend list I sort of doubt it can be viewable here. Is it possible for you to upload it to youtube?

Hi Shelly, I am sorry for your losses but since you are down to two discus perhaps it is a good time to step back and take a look at your husbandry. Do you get healthy stock to begin with?

Sorry that you are having problems. It is hard to tell now but it appears you made a lot of rookie mistakes. I always peach that new folks need to grow out their discus in a bare bottom tank and do daily water changes. The vast majority of people that try to start with a plented tank end up in exactly the same place that you are. If you want to have success I can tell you how. Get a 75 gallon tank and clean it well. Set it up with a couple of sponge filters and a heater. Set it to 82. Not sure where you got your discus from but this time make sure you get them from a good source. Feed them a quality food twice a day. I prefer a good homemade beef heart mix. Change 1/2 the water daily. After about 12 months you should have some great fish that your friends will rave about. At that point move them to a planted tank.
