Default A visit to Chicago Discus

My friend Willie and I were in Chicago for an IFGA guppy show this past weekend and was able to stop buy and visit Josie.

I cannot say enough nice things about her hatchery and her discus stock. It's certainly one of the cleanest hatcheries I've visited and she has lots of great fish, both imported and home bred. I had a hard time choosing which discus to get. Her Mandarin Passions are stunning as are the Albino Platinums. I was also interested in her Red Melons whose parents were on site with fry attached again. I finally chose 4 Checkerboard Pigeons and 5 Red Melons.

Josie was wonderful and we chatted up a storm. We even went to lunch and had a real Chicago favorite, Italian Beef and cheese fries! All in all a wonderful afternoon spent with a very nice, knowledgeable woman.

When I went to pick up the discus Sunday morning, they were ready and quadruple packed. When I got home, the water was still warm and the discus acclimated quickly. They are greedily eating FD blackworms today.

The only thing I regret is that I wasn't able to meet Miranda, who was out of town for the weekend.

Thank you Josie for the great fish and a great time.

Here are some pictures. They are still settling in and just had a water change.

    It's all good.
