Default Kenny/Forrest November Simply Benefit Auctions

Hey Guys, as previously mentioned by Al there are three concurrent Simply auctions for November featuring fish donated by Kenny and Forrest. The auctions include

Auction One - Four 5" Eruption Leopards
Auction Two - Four 5-5.5" Golden Melons
Auction Three - Four 5" Red Carnation Turquoises

Here's a recap on the change to the auction format we have here on SimplyDiscus. Currently we accept bids in the auction thread ( aka "in-thread bid") itself and at auction close the high bidder wins the auction. Simple and straight forward.

We are going to add a little twist to the auction bidding. In addition to the normal auction we do, We will be accepting "Sealed Bids" via email. Basically, A member will be able to submit their best bid via email which will remain confidential and private. This is their "Sealed Bid" After the auction closes those sealed bids will be opened by two members of the SimplyDiscus team and the winner will be announced based on the highest bid per auction (looking at both "sealed bids" and "in-thread" auction bids)

We will only accept one sealed bid from each member for the duration of the auction. If a member who submitted a sealed bid sees the highest "in-thread" bid is greater in the auction thread then their sealed bid then that member can bid in the auction thread and perhaps win the auction. You can not change the amount of your "Seal Bid" once placed nor can you retract it once you make it. The amount of your "sealed bid" is not public knowledge unlike the "in-thread" auction bids. Do not post what your sealed bid is...it can only be emailed to the specified address.

So there will be two types of bidding; "in-thread" auction threads bidding as we have done in the past and now, "Sealed Bids" via email.

Please review each auction before bidding. Here are the links to the auctions.

    Auction One - Four 5" Eruption Leopards - http://forum.simplydiscus.com/showth...ption-Leopards.

    Auction Two - Four 5-5.5" Golden Melons - http://forum.simplydiscus.com/showth...-Golden-Melons.

Auction Three - Four 5" Red Carnation Turquoises - http://forum.simplydiscus.com/showth...ion-Turquoises.

    Auction Rules:

    1. You have to be a registered member of the forum for at least five days prior to the start of the auction to participate in these auctions. Any bid received from a member not meeting this criteria will be deleted. This applies to public or sealed bids.

    2. "Sealed bids" must include the bid amount, the auction (when running concurrent auctions) that the bid applies to and the members username, and full real name. Only one "sealed bid" per member per auction group.

    3. The auction ending times will be very specific. The ending time will include the day, date and time to the minute, ie Sunday, November 16th 2014 at 8:00 pm EST (eastern standard time). Any bid time stamped after 8:00 pm is considered null and void. This includes any posted bid or sealed bid. The time stamp of a sealed bid is upon receipt in the email inbox, not the time you emailed it. (Mail servers can have lags, so bid in advance)

    4. Canadian members may participate if they can take delivery of the auction fish within the US. Please contact the Supplier prior to bidding to ensure a delivery location. Also ensure you are aware of any paperwork required to bring the fish into Canada.

    5. We have tried to anticipate all issues and make the rules clear and concise, but should an issue or problem arise we maintain all rights to resolve it as we see fit. You agree to this by your participation in these auctions.

    6. For this bid format, Moderators and Admins will not be allowed to participate.

The following actual tank pics of these 3 groups of SD auction fish have been posted on all 3 Nov auction threads. Thanks Pat for organizing them we appreciate you as always.

Here are some quick tank pics of them after being tanked for 2 days only. Since I have all 12 SD auction fish in the same tank I will post this similar set on all 3 auction threads.

    during feeding, already eating great.

    Thanks,
    Kenny

    Hi guys,

Based on some of the pms I have received I want to clarify a couple things with the ongoing auctions. First, there is not a minimum bid nor this is a minimum bid amount. You could bump the current high bid by one dollar and be the current high bidder. Also the public bids work just like bidding did in past auctions. For our newer members here is a link to a past auction as an example http://forum.simplydiscus.com/showth...Alenquer-Cross.

I have also been asked if the highest sealed bid amounts can be revealed while the auctions are on going. I can not do that as the rules state the sealed bids can not be opened until after the auctions close. Please do not allow the sealed bids prevent you from bidding in the auction threads. After all you have nothing to lose and could easily win a nice group of fish.

We only three days left on the auction so get those bids in so you don't miss out on some awesome fish.

The bidding system is very nice IMO, when it comes down to it, it is quite entertaining, we can bid any amount as long as it is higher than the other guy and only one sealed bid value as a hidden potential win. May not be the best for people trying to snag cheap discus but it does its job.

I hope you have this more often. I plan to bid once my new tank is set up which won't b for several months.

I especially like the orange ones with yellow faces

these auctions come purely through fish donations as far as I know. Kenny donated the fish so then the auction was planned and executed a few days later. As nice as they are, I would rather not ask for even more generosity.
