We will hold down the fort for you Al
Hi all,
Just a quick word here... One of my jobs is seasonal landscaping...I work for a friend helping him with his business in the fall and again the spring. Its physically demanding work, and the days can be long. I don't have access to the forum, but can check texts and emails periodically during the day. I try and check in here early in the morning or late night as schedule allows. But you may not see me regularly. Usually I am done by end nov.
Thanks everyone! Gotta Run...todays a chainsaw day!

Sorry to be Mia a couple of days... Been very busy with work...
Have to share a few pics...
The bad news is I'm sore as can be, the good news is I heat my home with firewood and this wood will be very welcome here next winter!

Firewood was my first thought so a win/win Al except for the soreness. A warm soaking bath might help.

OMG I hate that king of work. When I was a kid, I had to put away 6 cords every year for the wood furnace. Throw it up a hill from the driveway, then through a window in the basement, then pack it. I was tired, sore and extremely cranky. I feel for ya Al.
...Wood does create a nicer heat than oil or electricity though. That part I miss.
Len
love my log fire, its our main source of heat all winter long, this year will be the only source of heat ! well if 9 total fish tanks dont count....LOL

After 8 hours, soaked to the bone in 40 F rain, I finally yielded to the wood pile!

Sometimes that is the smart choice Al but when that weather is nicer you will own that woodpile. Think of the warmth it will yield this winter.

Dealt with Rain Sat, and cold gale winds yesterday, but I finished the wood pile..It was quite the chore! Now I need to stack it so it dries out (ages) for use next year. Seeing on how I heat my home with wood in the winter, this was a really key job that I needed to tackle.

thats a lot of wood !! that would do .....*fast math* two full winters here in my really well built but little, log cabin !!! we have one stove that really heats the place every thing but the last bathroom, mine of course, which is awful because im a slug about getting out of the bath and will stay in until im well and truly pruned....LOL

Update on my schedule guys... I'm in the home stretch here. Depending in how the weather goes, I should be finished up with this job Nov 21. Tell you what, I'm feeling my age more this year than last. Doesn't help that the last few years have been tough on the trees with storms. The branches are just weaker...slightest winds take them down....makes 2X the work.
Appreciate everyone pitching in and watching the forum in my absences.. I can't wait to be done.. Truth is I wish I didn't take the job this year...but fact was I need it.

Al, I know you will be glad when this is done. The problem with age is it takes longer to get use to the work and longer to recovery if you hurt yourself. This is coming from someone who is coming up on 60.

Glad it's gas powered. My brother had a wood burner in his house and early winter we would get wood, usually by helping local farmers and land management agencies with clearance. He had a manual splitter, I used to race him, him using the splitter me using an axe - always a close run one that Was great training for my rugby, happy days.
