Thanks Ryan, these are only 1/4 inch thick and since the background does not float it did not need a ton of silicone to hold it in place. On this acrylic 180 I am only siliconing the pieces to the overflows. The background piece between the overflows will be held in by the background pieces on the side of the overflows.

I have the background installed and cleaned up the sump today and it is out drying. Will move it in tomorrow must likely.

Pat, how do you keep the background from getting a build-up of algae? And if it does build up, how do you clean it once it's in the tank? I've had 3-D backgrounds, and gave them up due to the hassle of cleaning ~ glass is sooo much easier. Also, love the acrylic, I'm thinking of replacing my display tank with that, when I get rich! Ha, LOL!

Don, this background is only 1/4 of an inch thick so hardly 3D. I tend to keep my lights on the tank low so have no algae buildup. The wilds look great with a dim light setting. This tank and sump was about $2000 with shipping so no complaints there.

Pat, things are getting closer and closer, I bet you can hardly wait to see your beautiful fish swimming in there. Now are you moving existing fish or is this tank for your reds in the qt tanks still??

It is getting closer Jacklyn. I ordered some plumbing parts I could not find locally last night. I am thinking about moving the Tefe's into this tank which will give me nine fish. I still think I am about two weeks out before the tank is setup and running. Today I need to move the sump inside and see how I will get it under the stand. Might have to move the stand up on one side, position the sump in the stand footprint and ease the stand back down over the sump...bit of a PITA.

Do you mind me asking where you got that sump? It looks like the style I wanted, with a wet/dry side.

I had it custom made with my tank https://www.facebook.com/AcrylicCreations. I would suggest making the drawers as removable drawers for easy cleaning. I intending that for this sump but failed to make that clear on the drawing.

BTW, I had been watching your post count for a few days waiting for you to hit that 20k and forgot for a few days. Now you are at 20,276! You are too quick Pat. Congrats on the 20k count
