this is what has been happening over the last hour...

the opened box, with my assistant taking a whiff

    how they were bagged

first one out of black wrapper

this is their current state, on the drip while I post here...

another hour and they will be in the tank, they are all upright now except one who I am a bit worried about but he is breathing, it is the only one still on its side...

I have great news! the fish are all doing well and swimming around the tank. one has even come to the front to greet me a few times now. it is official, the next purchase will have to be a camera that will do these babies justice, they truly are the most beautiful fish I have ever owned and I am still a little shocked that they are actually here in my house. my tank, gah it has scratches and blemishes...here are some updates, I turned the lights on around 7pm. I first opened the blinds, then turned on the room light, then the other fish tank lights then finally the tank

Try a 50% WC and work on the tank starting at one end to the middle. Allow the fish to move to the end you were at and start at the other end and do the same. This way you are giving the fish a safe place as you work around the tank.

Yes ma'am Pat, tonight I will do as large of a water change that my filter intakes will allow without going dry which is around 40% I would say. I will go slow...Here are some shots from this morning at lights on, I was very surprised to see them already awake when I turned the lights on. The tank across from them has lights on automation and they were already on so I suppose that's what woke them up, they were not spooked at all by me turning their lights on...still a little hesitation but overall they are surprising me at how accustomed to humans they seem to be already. I have enjoyed watching the L. dorsigera move in and out of the discus as if they are not even there, no fear at all. The bolivians on the other hand keep their distance.

Jacklyn, the wilds I have received from John have always be friendly, well aclimated and willing to eat within a short period of time. They look great this morning. I like that they are showing very little bar.

They look great. Congrats and good luck with them. I have gotten a few discus from John in the past and they have always acclimated very quickly. Quicker than most domestic strains I've bought in the past.
