Evolution of food
I started my batch of discus feeding primarily microsticks, but I didn't think I was getting the growth I should have. Close, but not enough.
I made my own batch of beef mix and I believe the growth the past two weeks have been better. Basically extra lean ground beef, powdered microsticks, a bit of banana, a powdered vitamin, garlic and some greens.
Today I picked up a pound of beefheart mix from the breeder I got my fish from. Defrosted a bit and put it in the tank. They attacked this stuff crazy style. The only food I have seen them eat more aggressively is live white worms.
Don't know why that is, but this will be my food of choice going forward until, or if, I ever make my own....properly.
also, usually I only see 2 of my fish eat the beef mix I made, I know the rest eat it, just not when I'm around. This time they were all attacking it after just a minuter or two. Maybe the shrimp or the garlic? Either way it works for me.
