This is absolutely the best guide I have found to making a stock solution of PP and it will last a while. http://www.bidka.org/library/pp.shtml.

Note: PP in this post is Potassium Permanganate.
So I found the suggestions for a stock solution too tedious. When a teaspoon treats 10 gallons its so easy to overdose and very hard to get an exact dosage. So I applied some math to make a more fool proof stock solution. I used it for 2 weeks as part of QT and it worked very well.
12 grams (~2 teaspoons) into 1 GALLON of water.
1 cup of this stock solution treats 100 gallons at exactly 2PPM.
Using a diluted stock solution should take away some fear of overdosing. If an extra splash pours into the tank no worries you wont suddenly go from 2PPM to 4PPM. Maybe this can help some who are apprehensive about using PP.
