Way to go Joe... Eggs are looking good, those fish are stunning as is, combining the gene's of both is going to be a sight!

    Thanks Phil.
l was happy to see the eggs last for a couple of days before disappearing, so maybe the next lot may go that one step further. The pair l have in the breeding tank is not doing anything at all so l can see another switch happening some time soon. Ideally l need another breeder tank or two, but l really cant commit to all the extra time that goes with that. I have another trip coming on soon, and have to put everything in perspective.
I'm not sure how any of the young would turn out, but l wouldn't think that they wouldn't be much different from their parents since they in turn are siblings.

Split them in a 55. If something happens something happens. Maybe you'll get super lucky and both pairs will spawn for you. A man could have bigger problems.

    Haha...Thanks Keith

By split them do you mean put both pairs in the 55? with a barrier down the middle?

Yup, egg crate might do just fine. I've had it work once, worth a shot.

I used a piece of net certain with four rubber suction cups on each corner to secure to the glass and it worked that was a few years ago ,give me a call if you need them i still have it some where.

Thanks to you both. I'll keep that in mind if l decided to put both pairs in there, but i'd be happy with just one that can do the job at the moment

I'm hoping to receive some advise on what my next move should be, or am l just being impatient?

I'm yet to establish a proven pair in my breeding tank. The pair l placed in there awhile ago have settled and have laid a few lots of eggs now. I was fortunate to see the female lay the eggs on a couple of occasions, but the male was not doing his bit.
I was wondering if i should wait awhile longer, or replace the male with another male from the main tank. At this point any advise would be appreciated.

Hi Joe ; I wish i was more experienced in breeding and could give you advice but i am sure others will tell you what they think , on the positive note you have at least established which one is male and which one is female .
Good luck with the waiting game.

Thanks Sayid, but at this stage l have only established that l have a female as the male has still to proove himself.

Switching out the male will not automatically give you a pair. Stick with the ones you have and give them time.

Joe you get to practice some patience a bit longer... Seriously though, just found your thread. I will keep my fingers crossed for you. That will be an entirely new adventure. Something Izzy and Sophie can watch grow. That would be really fun for them to enjoy with you.
