Makes perfect sense.
At nearly three month old I'm very happy with the progress of my first batch of home bred discus. Since placing them in their grow out tank i have culled four fish, and there are a couple more i need to try and catch...not an easy task as these little suckers are super fast.
They are receiving 2 feeds of beef heart daily, crushed discus gran and freeze dried black worms which they absolutely devour.
To maintain good water quality l am doing daily 30% water changes straight from the tap with a little prime added

I really enjoy watching this group develop.

Thanks Sayid.
You know you're always welcomed. Average size body is about 22mm (3/4")
Watching them closely and keeping those bellies full of good food.

Thank you
Thanks....you're not wrong
These spotted eruptions are coming along nicely with average size in the tank now at approx 1. 1/2" (40mm)
If i remember correctly they are at the same size i bought their parents at a couple of years back. Still maintaining 30% water changes every day straight out of the tap and about 4 feeds throughout the day, two of which are beef heart which they demolish in no time at all.

Nice!
Awesome group of discus Joe , I just did a quick comparison with the previous group 2 years ago and i don't know if it's me but the present lot seem to me to have a more pronounce bar through their eyes , i wonder if the bar disappears as they grow older , doing an excellent job as usual .
Just finished reading thru your thread Joe, you put in a couple of very good years. Cudo's my man on a great run and thank you i learned a lot from reading your experiences.
Thank you very much George. It truly has been a wonderful experience for me, and i'm getting alot of enjoyment from the hobbie without all the headaches. My method might not work for everyone, but i'm glad to be able to pass on my limited experience in the hope that it may help others even in a little way.
Thanks again for dropping in

My batch of juvenile fish are coming along nicely and I'm eyeing a fair few out that i want to keep. I really don't want to set up and start another tank, so i made a decision to offload my main group from the main tank.
So basically i'm starting fresh with a group of 20 fish which i hope to grow out and get a pair from to breed the next generation, and my final step of the challenge i have set for myself to have my current discus grand children in there.
I'm keeping the pair that these young have come off and hoping to occasionally raise another batch.
It wasn't easy letting this group go, and i can verify that the largest measured at 8 1/4 Inches ( 210mm )
It made it a little easier knowing that they are going to another dedicated discus keeper that appreciated the work that was put into this group. Not only did he like the bulk in them, but also their markings and their shape was very appealing to him.
I wish him all the very best with them, and i hope he gets as much enjoyment from them as i have over the last 2 years or so.
