    Default Stand Build

    Hi All,

I'm new to the forum and taught I would share some pics of my stand build. This is a amateur project done on my spare time on the weekends, It took roughly 3 weekends to build. I still have to finish the doors but I taught I would share some pics and get some feed back. I was trying to replicate a perfecto monteray stand, my stand is 84 long x 24 wide x 36 tall and the materials were bought from lowes and home depot. The final cost of everything was around $350 and was built with 2x6 and 2x4 for the bottom shelf support, by no means i'm a professional carpenter or wood worker this was just a weekend project.

Hello audiko4 and welcome to Simply Discus.
I am no carpenter myself but have built a fair amount of aquarium stands. I would say you have done a spectacular job building that stand.
    I'm guessing for a 150g 72" x 18" foot print?
Can't wait to see it all set-up.

Thanks Ralph, the stand will hold a perfecto 265 gallon reef ready aquarium. As soon as I get the tank home ill do some more updates, the weather in CT has been very unpredictable so i'm waiting for it to clear up to bring the tank home. I forgot to mention that in the front there are 2 2x6's in the middle between the doors to give vertical support.

Looks very sturdy. Do you plan on putting a sheet of plywood on the top? Is the tank going to be glass or acrylic? Will it have a bottom trim?

I'm going to put 1/4" foam around the edge of the top of the stand, I'm not doing plywood on the top. The tank is glass with a standard plastic frame around the top and bottom . It's an off the shelf perfecto 265 gallon aquarium.
