Yes that driftwood looks like it could be dangerous for discus.

Your driftwood is awesome, but I see there are quite a few sharp pointy ends on various pieces, a couple seemingly extending well into the discus' open free swimming areas.
Discus may often be startled at night or whenever, and may injure themselves badly moving swiftly into the sharp ends.
This type of occurrence is not uncommon.
Suggest you have a close look & cut off/remove at least a few of the more protruding pointed ends - those which you feel could be dangerously situated.
Thanks for that info I would have never thought about that at all!

Try make pictures in the evening, I prefer watch tank than white T-shirt Tank looks great, plants needs time, probably you lost some of them, it happens.
Glad to hear that since I have a lot of wood like your tank but I rather be safe then sorry.

Hello everyone I'm super excited I have added about 80 cardinals and 25 rummy nose tetras to the tank! Water is a little cloudy because I just did a water change. Hope you guys like the video. Discus to be coming soon within a few months.

Just an update of how the tank is doing now. Also switched from socks to filter pads in refugium. Hope to get Discus in the spring!

Thank you very much I have had this planned in my head for years and I'm super excited how it is coming out.

So I will be getting the Discus very soon so its about that time to find out how many I'm going to get. So heres my current stock list and what else I'm going to add besides Discus.

    Current Stock list
    ~50 Cardinal Tetras
    ~40 Rummy Nose Tetras
    1 SAE
    8 Sterbai Cory's
    1 Dwarf Gourimi

    Adding besides Discus:
4 Long Fin Electric Blue Rams
    4 Long Fin Gold Rams
    4 Apistogramma Macmasteri

Total approximate gallons (tank and sump/refugium) 240 g

I was thinking any where from 10 to 15 Discus. What do you guys think?

As I've mentioned to you elsewhere KnuckleZ, you should be just fine with say, 10 good-sized discus (go for at least 4" fish if your wallet allows) from a well-known fully responsible source - check out the sponsors here.

And be sure to do a suitable QT before adding the discus to the main tank when you get them.

I don't see why you can't do 15 or so in there, but paul is right, given your tank and scape and all, maybe less is more.

That being said, if your growing them separate, maybe get 15-20, pick your top 10-15, sell off the rest?

Also, I always tell folks, do the quick math as well, growing out juvies in a 100 gallon is gonna be a lot of work and the cost will rise. Sometimes getting big adults to start is best. Unless you just enjoy the grow out process which I get and respect.

I'm thinking maybe 12 and taking some rummy nose's out but never thought about getting a few more like 15 and picking 12 to go in the tank for example, awesome idea! I plan on getting them around 3.5" to 4" as Paul mention but might play with the idea to get some small (3") to save $ and pick the best 12 if I get 15.

I know I will enjoy growing them out as well as I know what its going to take. Daily water changes, multiple feeds a day, etc...

Just bought a 135 storage tank to make my water changes easier and faster. Going to fill with half RO/DI and half tap. Thinking of getting a heater but I live in Miami where my garage (water storage is in the garage) is always super hot even during our 75° winters.

Still have to run plumbing through the attic to the other side of the house which isn't that far away.

Also have an update video of the Cory's in the 180 and me trying to find best way to feed them.

What about during the summer, will the storage container get too hot?
