Default Shooting with off camera flash

Hi I want to take some shots of the fish using off camera flash, without the tank lights on, any ideas on this, ie positioning of the flash and setting, ect as a starting point

Directly above the tank and I usually start with it turned down to 1/4th or 1/2 power and adjust from there.

I point it down with a diffuser attached to it. You could bounce it up, into a white rain gutter section, or have a diffuser pointing down.
