Hey guys,
So no one has really posted about lice before with a detailed solution.
I have just discovered a couple of my tanks contain lice
I can't find any safe info of treating for lice with discus.
I have started treatment with paracide by blue planet
so my questions are once i start how often should i water change and how frequently should i retreat
THANKS!!

even my pleco is getting irritated and sitting on the glass at the top of the tank
its driving me insane and i just want to help them all now

Water change every second day
Treating with paracide
I can vaccum a lot out but not all
They don't all suck up and there are so many
They are only very tiny so I'm not sure they are classic argulus or another type or version of them
But they affecting my discus by attaching and biting into them
I'm reluctant to take everything out and sterilize as I own over 100 discus and don't really have the space move the affected discus to another tank
The discus are also very irritated and flashing
Even my little l134 isn't in his usual hiding spots and on the glass near the top of the tank
My six foot tank has a piece of driftwood jammed into the tank and isn't really removable
It's also in a fish room at my house where I would have to empty a heap of tanks to move it lol
I'm in trouble:/
I agree. Without being willing to move them, it may be difficult to treat this problem. It seems like this is beyond the beginnings stages of a problem. I think nuking is the safest bet. I'll let others chime in here though as this is not something I am familiar with.

Hmmmm I don't see a solution even if I move them out
Get rid out all the sand
Dry the tank out in the sun and sponge filter
In a day and then put the fish back in
I lose all my bacteria
If I put the aquarium water back in with them there will be some in there and if I put them in another tank I infect that tank and other discus if I can't make the room
Surely someone has some other ideas out there lol
What type of filtration are you running? I find it hard to believe those are lice. Can you describe how they move? Can we get some more pictures of entire tank and discus?

alright i have a sponge filter attached to a powerhead
they crawl along the floor and up the walls and they can kind of float around to move onto a fish
this isn't my tank but this is exactly what mine are

these are photos of my actual tanks and the fish that has been getting bitten
you can actually even see the bugs that resemble specs of dirt on the poor fish in the pictures
last night i did heaps of research and heaps of people have had the same things but no one seems to know what they are
i just really need help because they are affecting my discus

Pull the discus, suck out the sand, bleach the tank and refill. Problem solved. clean the sponge filter real good. How long has the sand been in the tank? Where did it come from?

Fish lice, of course they can. What will kill them dead is no longer on the market. It was called Clout.
Bleach is the next best.
Chances are they rode in on a fish or maybe a plant( I've never heard of that). They just do not show up out of the blue they need an introduction.
For the record they are not the same lice that affect humans or pets.
