I agree I would not cull just because of it. If after several months and no regrowth then revisit. I had a Discus from Petco that looked like it had been pinched in a jar with the dorsal damaged pretty good. I talked them into a 9.99 fish and brought it home except for the faint 1/2 circle on its body you cannot tell now. That faint circle is now getting lighter every day.

Tony, has the fin always been that way? When I look at your picture I can see several fish who have the same issue. If the fin have always been that way that then it appears genetic. Otherwise it could be something in the tank causing it.

I noticed the same Pat I just thought it was fish we really couldn't see completely. Looking a little down and left from the red arrow there's 3 fish right there so I assumed the other could be the same

    Pat, pitdoggs,

like i said there are couples like that since young and they grow well. I hope it's not something else in my water that's why i am checking to see if it happens to everyone else before i start culling them.

With all the fry that I've breed there are a few with that dorsal fine issue. As they get bigger the dorsal fin grows out normally. By 7-8 weeks if they still have that dorsal fin deformity, I culled them as it's likely genetic.

Hi Tony, I have some fry with the same thing. Did their fins end up growing out normally? Very interested in what happened.
    Thanks!
