Nice fish Juris. So far so good .
I hope you will win over the brown algae . Ancistrus fish are known to eat this kind of algae, you can try them out.

Rapture , it's still too early to evaluate the final outcome of the fish. 1 inch growth in 3 months its not considered a big succes by experienced discus keepers.

William, while co2 does wonders for plants it can compromise the discus growth and health, so I would not reccomend it at least until discus are full grown ( +18 months age ).

    1) Food:every time all cutted pieces are eaten for 100% in 2min.! No piece fall down till gravel (ofcourse Stenker Good Heart play a main role)
    2) Water changes: in first 11weks 100%-150%weekly WCH but biggest was ''only'' 36% in change.(tank have own bio balance-and I disagree with USA method as 80_100% daily WCH)
    3) Most important thing: once a week Im cleaning gravel (Im take out 5mm up layer and carefully wash in bucket, than replace back
Big tank its important, simpliest water plants but a lot in a start (Oliver Knott method-world aquascape champion)
And T=28.9'C/84F' not more (if fish are above 5cm/2) My tank get oxigen only from surface agetation !

I agree some fish are still at 11cm/4.3 ...BUT tank its closed eco system, every fish have only 30L/8gal and more than inch in 80days its like story about Chinese chicken for Mcd:3kg/6lb in few monthes!

7th May its my birthday and discus 103rd day in my tank.
I feel even with eye:discus are growing up,just patience.

Hello. At last -brown algea dissaster are giving up ! Plants each day become better and looks just greate !
Maybe its thanks to each day WCH (cold water mixed with boiled water)
Day_141st_changed:8045L/2117G of water! Its 800buckets off and 800buckets back.
All that time was with triplfeeding.(Thanks to wife and mama)
On 1st july my Stendkerdiscus will be full 9month 'old'-its mean pictures.
Brown algea dissaster was so powerfull and I just start to do nothing (just dasnt have a time for that) quick WCH after work and wonder just happens!

You have done a nice job with this set up, and obviously put in a lot of thought and work to get it where its at. Many on here would argue about your water change schedule, but l'm sure you are taking everything into account. I like it. Good luck achieving what you desire.

    Juris,
Having white foam in the canister filter that has not been changed for 10 months its the worst you can do for your discus fish .
If you use it in canister it has to be replaced at least once a month , otherwise its just a food for pathogens and diseases .
And the slime and stink you saw on the floss is not made from the Nitro bacteria but from unwanted heterotrophic bacteria that we constantly fight against with cleaning , siphoning and water changing .
