Wow, had no idea it was so bad in SC until the news tonight. Hope you Matt and everyone is safe.
Pat
Insane flooding going on today and I expect some tomorrow as its still dripping rain a bit. Curfew in effect all over the state, roads in absolute disarray, multiple dams out, tons of bridges and roads completely washed out, buildings collapsing, and even some fatalities unfortunately.....it's bad. National Guard even flying helos in and out on rescue missions. It's like a hurricane came through without the hurricane. Very apocalyptic feeling with just first responders and police to be seen outside. Hope everyone is staying safe and dry, I know we have at least a couple from the area and down near Charleston on the board.
Interstates in/around Columbia have been closed all day, I'm supposed to go into work downtown tomorrow but not sure how far I'll get, depends on how much has gone down overnight. I don't plan on taking any risks, so many roads just collapsing under the asphalt. We've had 14-17 inches of rain in the course of a day here at the house and through the city and like I said, it's supposed to continue overnight.
Will keep you posted but for now I'm good. Check in SC members so we know you're alright! Stay safe and stay dry!

Your discus are talking to you....are you listening
Matt, I thought we had it bad here in Chaz. Good grief when I saw Columbia.
-Elliot
Good to hear. Yeah Columbia is wrecked at the moment. The road closures are immense. Still raining today. Whole city is shut down basically.
All of this water has to go somewhere, and it's eye is on Charleston. Keep watch the next few days!!
-Matt
Hope everybody stays safe.
Eddie
It's pretty bad here on the coast of NC too. We are OK, but lots of flooding around the whole area and damage from it. Glad you are OK Matt.
Barb
Hope everyone is safe.
Stay safe everyone!

Thankfully the rain is slowing down, still raining though. Dams keep breaking so we aren't out of the woods yet, one just broke about 5mins ago. Lots of wet soggy weak ground. Calling for mandatory evacuations of my old neighborhood currently, thankfully not there anymore. We now have drinking water scares and may lack drinking water for 3-4 days. I stocked up yesterday and have plenty of bottles in the garage but some people won't be as lucky.
We've never seen anything like this. Used to some flooding in Charleston, thats the norm because of how low and close to the Ocean it sits but this is just....incredible.

Stay safe Matt and all who are affected.
Culverts under roadways are not able to handle the flow force and start eating away any granular and soil until it just washes away the entire roadway.
Water in my mind is the worst forces of nature.
keep in touch Matt.
