    Default Space Shuttle Atlantis

This set of photos will be very hard to work with. This is the Space Shuttle Atlantis and the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Center. The display is absolutely breath taking and a bear to capture in photos.

I have a cool technique for pieces like this, but it is a bit awkward. Say I was taking this picture, I would probably use a 24mm, that would be roughly a 16mm on a cropped sensor and I would stand to the side of the nose. Then, after I have taken a shot, I would move over to the right to get a little more of the shuttle. Then, move a little more, and so on until you get to the tail end. Then, you stitch them up in PS. You'd have to avoid people though, and again, you look awkward doing it, but it is a cool excersize.

I really like this picture, but would have loved it larger

I can't add any technical info, but I wanted to say the photo to me makes me stand in amazement. It brings a lot of memories of that time in space and all that happened. I can only imagine what it is like to see it in person.
Thanks for sharing I think it's a cool picture. I like the contrasts and lighting.

Great shot. Amazing how worn the craft looks.
I sympathize with the photo issues as I try and shoot the Smithsonian exhibit at Dulles outside DC.
I like Ricardo's "pano" idea. Wish I knew how to work that in PS.
Also sometimes it can be fun to take close ups of small sections of the ship.

Stan, I think I will try and show the photos as the shuttle looked to the naked eye and I do have pictures of small parts of the ship. While it does show its age one must remember that this shuttle had been in service since 1985 with 33 flights in space so it has earned its current look.

I like it. Pat what was to the left in the photo? Anyway for you to capture more to the left of the shuttle? Or any room to step back more to the left? I feel like, personally at least, I would of rather seen less crop to the nose and more towards to tail as I want the feeling of the craft coming towards me rather than moving out of the shot. Again, personal opinion. I am actually impressed you captured it with that amount of people around it, thats good. However I think it'd be a great shot if there were some kids trying to reach for the top of the railing looking in awe of the shuttle.

    Excellent shot though.

    Thanks Matt,

I do not recall cropping it. This is a little different angle with same presets.

and here I darken the extra light sources. Left a little lighting on my sister in the foreground.

I really like the shot but need to tone down the blues. Engines and tail fin from below.

Nice! I'll have to check these out when I get back to the computer but they look great on the phone.

As far as cropping I meant with the camera shot itself not so much PP. Just saying I'd shoot more headroom on the nose than on the tail if there was space.

I love the black BG. Makes it look like it is in space. You can darken the BG with a combination of the black slider and a brush using exposure. Agree with Matt that the ship needs some room in the front; some place to go.
