Very nice tank. I noticed you say you are using HO T5's. How many bulbs exactly?

two bulbs, right now I'm thinking of switching to coralife 10000k blue bulbs to accentuate the blues on the fish, right now the white is overpowering the one blue that I have

I had a similar fixture and it was running a fully planted tank. Be warned, you may see a lot of algae in your tank if your photo period is long.

Photo perio is about 5 hrs total, but I do want to check other options that don't allow that, any recommendation.
Btw this was the same light I had on my planted aquarium about a year ago, and it does wonders, but since this one is not planted I don't want it to run wild

You can simply raise the fixture up higher. Your photoperiod is rather short so you may be fine. Just look for signs of algae, and if you find any, adjust accordingly.

yeah it shouldn't be an issue, i might put the fixture in its own timer since everything else i want to be running 24hrs, timer will run sometime in the mid morning for about 4 hrs and then at night when i get home from work to complete the water change on the tank.
