    Default Tankmate list

    Here's the Tankmate list -

    2 x ClownLoach's
    12 - 20 Rummynose Tetra's
    1 x Royal Plec
Assorted Corydoras ( undecided which species to keep as yet )

Think these will be ok from what I've read - anyone have any positive / negative comments or observations on the above

    cheers
    Neil

The tetras and corys (if it is a species that can take the warmth) are a good choice if your discus are 4.5-5".The loaches are very active at night and the Royle pleco is a poop factory.

Neiman - I agree with Mervin that Clown Loaches and the Pleco are perhaps questionable. While many discus-keepers have the Loaches and various Plecos as discus tank-mates without any issues, the Clown Loaches' fast pace and lights-out activities can be stressful to discus, and some Plecos, as they get older, larger, and lazier, MAY take a liking to discus' slime coats as part of their diet. So the word is: be cautious if you use them as tank-mates.

As for Cories, the only strain I've found to be a bit delicate, and seemingly not comfortable at discus higher temps, are Panda Cories.

Google "planet catfish"you can find the preferred temps there for corys. The Sterbai corydoras do well in higher temps;there are lots of others. Some species do better in cooler temps.

none of these fish except the blue rams, angel fish and possibly some of the tetras will do well in a tank suited for discus. The higher temperatures (82-85) degrees that a discus do well in are not suitable for the majority of the fish on your list. Pleco is a maybe depending on which one.

If you were to get the clowns you need a school, i currently have 2 because my other 2 died off. What ive noticed is a hell of alot of fighting between the two.
