My name is Jonathan, 21 years old, and currently reside in Florida, USA. I've been keeping fish and plants for about 4 years now. The title represents where I have lived in Chronological order. I love everything about fish. I am mostly a recreational fisherman, and ocassionally a team captain of tournament land-based shark fishing. I have been fishing since I achieved proper mechanical movements to use a rod and reel. Anyway I have been keeping some GBR and some CA cichlids in the parachromis genus, but I am looking for a new challenge and I have decided to look into keeping discus. I have a 55 gallon that I plan on using to house a pair of discus, maybe more as I feel out how the nitrates correlate to the discus and the feeding regiment. Since I saw that there was a section of this forum with introductions I thought I might as well make my first post here. I hope you guys look forward to answer some questions in the future.

Hello Jonathan and welcome to SimplyDiscus. You seem to have a great background with fish so I am assuming that planning is a big part of your builds. If so, a 55g would be a good start, and you may actually be able to keep a good size group there to adulthood, but a 75g may be a better choice if you can get one instead of the 55g. If not, Phil, who just posted above me has a nice 55g with a big group of discus. Read through his threads and see how manages it.
