Great pics! Those parents are awesome!! I really like the one on the left in the second picture which I assume is the female, but also really like way the male has the little patch of center stripes. Does he only display these during spawns? What strains are they?

P.S. I think someone stole your sponges.

    Thanks for the advice, Pat.
And thanks Len and mee. I bought the male HB Snakeskin 4-1/2 years ago from Kenny at 3.5". He's over 7" now. I bought the female blue snakeskin from Kenny about 6 mo. ago as a new mate for him. They've spawned a few times but this is the first time the fry have hatched. He's a 14 bar and they show up anytime he's a bit stressed. I need to keep playing with the light and focus and see if I can get better shots. More to come!

Oh, and I take out the sponges for the couple days I'm trying to get them to atttach. Just have to keep changing water.

A view from down the road a bit.

You can see our Table Rocks in the distance. Their top used to be an ancient sea bed. Much older than the surrounding geology.

So, getting good pictures of my fish is still the toughest thing. Lighting, reflections, movement...

very nice pics Steve! Really love that pair.

If you need help with the camera, here is one thing that may help, raising the ISO. You can do this by hitting the menu (I believe its the menu button) on the right of the screen if I remember correctly. Once you hit it, it will give you a directional option menu. Hit the right one, which controls the ISO (again, if memory serves correctly). Raise this until it helps you to take better pics. Keep in mind, the higher you raise the ISO, the more "noise" or tiny grain you will see. Additionally, if you can snap on the tiny lens, that one is actually "faster" and allows you to have more light to the sensor. It is trickier since it is manual focus only, but honestly, it isn't that hard after you practice a few times. My advice would be to practice in an area that is well lit so you get a feel for how to focus and how to set the aperture which is on the lens itself. Hope that helps bud.

P.S. you are doing a fine job so far. I wish I lived in a place that looked that calm and peaceful.

smartinich, what is the H in HB Snakeskin ? Btw, I had attachment problems in a 40 gallon cube, and finally figured out it was current. With my most recent spawn in the tank I was starting to lose them at the same time as always in that tank, and as soon as I cut the flow to just about nothing they stopped dying, and I now have 80 to 100 growing nicely.

Oh, and where in Oregon are you? Maybe I asked you/told you before, but I spent half my life in Oregon.

High-Body Snakeskin. You might be able to tell he's a bit taller than round. But he's so big, I hope I get some good fry. I've been in the Medford area for 25 years, 10 in Eugene before that. 10 in Santa Barbara before that, and my first 15 in Milwaukee, WI. I'm going to the NADA show in Chicago in July, and then going to visit relatives in Milwaukee I haven't seen in over 40 years.

OK, figured High, or Heckel. Nice fish, and yours pics are nice too. Been through Medford several times, stopped once to eat some pretty good Mexican food, and a couple times for Gas, spent time in Eugene more than once, but remember very little, other than sleeping in a friends dorm room closet with 3 friends. The rest of her floor was full of other friends =) Also seem to remember a burrito place with truly huge burritos.

So, I had to raise the brightness on these in the computers edit program. They contrast is a bit harsh.
