Ok Al sign me up. Remember back before the days of digital I was a part time photographer. Still have my old Cannon AE-1. Use to know how to develop my own film and such. Hope you do not cause that flame to be rekindled....

John, will add you to the list and map shortly. Am browsing via phone atm. Cool of you to join

Side note to all, if for whatever reason it is inconvenient to get the camera when your time is up, let us know. We can swap out slots where necessary.

Additionally, when you send payment via PayPal, you can send the money via the friends and family option so that the person receiving the funds does not get charged the fee for participating.

Let me know if you have any questions

Great thread going on here. Nice pictures everywhere.

Before I decided to try to keep fish, I enjoyed photography as my only hobby. My first camera was a Minolta Rangefinder my dad let me have when I was in high school. I can't remember the model but it was a long time ago, and even then the camera was outdated. All my photography friends were using cool SLRs and I was taking pictures with the non-interchangeable single lens Minolta. While in college, I purchased a Minolta XG1 which became the last film camera I ever owned. It was a nice camera and I enjoyed using it a lot. After several years, I jumped on the Digital bandwagon with a Minolta Dimage 5. That was probably the worst mistake I ever made. The camera would not take a good picture unless there was lots and lots of light. I guess the sensor was really weak. Oh - and the battery life - or lack of. It would eat a whole set of 4 AA Duracells on a single session. That camera did not last long. I think it ended up at Goodwill. I replaced it with a Cannon Digital Rebel which I'm still using today. What a great camera, even for an entry level DSLR. I know there are much better cameras out there, but this one works for me, though the Canon Rebel 6TS has been wooing me for a few months now.

At any rate, I've never touched a Pentax, so if it is ok with you folks, sign me up. I sure would like to give the camera a try and display some pictures of Missouri on the thread. Please do let me know what I need to do.

This map is in the OP, but felt like adding it here. Just look at all those teal/turq pins on the map! These are the members that have already gotten and shipped the camera forward. Join the fun and become one of those pins!

For the good of the journey...
As a novice I left everything on auto, and played with distance and zoom. I had a real hard time holding still enough, even while supporting the camera, to get focused shots of my fish. Is there a trick to doing so? How do you guru's do it?

Steady hands do help some, but then when you reach 1/20-1/60 of a second, if the fish moves just a little then you will more than likely get blurry images. A few things to do is raise your ISO as I believe you did Steve, also, if you use the other lens, the tiny one, you can open up your aperture a lot more than the zoom. The aperture selector is on the zoom. That is about it. Those 3 are the ones that will control your light. The only other option is to increase the light of the subject if you can.
