Bloodworms are the larvae of midges. Easy enough to cultivate if you live in the right area. Just like mosquito larvae.
Hey guys so recently ive been thinking on how to give my fish the best food. I was thinking about growing live cultures eg blood or/and black worms, brian shrimp, viniger eels, micro worms, fresh veggies from garden and a high quality flake and sinking pellets in the morning to balance out there diet. Whats everyones opinion on this? Good or bad?
And before you guys mention beefhart, im not planning on raising discus aswell it's too messy for my planted tank
Thanks in advance!

white worms are really great as are red wigglers. I have both and both are easy to culture. personally I prefer the red wigglers for adult fish and the whiteworms for juvies. temp is a factor so do some research.
vinegar eels, microworms even grindalworms are probably only useful for fish under 1"
Thanks for the replys how often should i feed them the white worms and red wigglers

Here's my best answer-- either often or seldom. Live food is very exciting for fish. If I feed my fish live food for a few days they sometimes are slow to take dry food again(some fish will ignore it for awhile). So, you can feed them lots of live and frozen foods and, IMO, that would be a good diet.
Or you can feed them a lot of dry food and just give live food as a treat a few days a week as an extra feeding.
Treats sound like a good idea, what about flake in the morning and live at night?
