Default Food for Blue discus strains

Hi all, looking for some advice on pellet food. I have blue SS and red turqs from Hans and I have been feeding them home-made mix and tetrabits...

I wanted to replace tetrabits with something else that helps blue based fish...What are your recommendations?

I have done some research and I think diskusgold, aquabite, sera blue are some of my options...also considering pellets from Ken's fish(please help with the exact link on this one they have many options on their website).

Also, do these blue color enhancing food really show distinct difference as red color enhancement ( I mean some red color enhancing food can turn a black molly into a red velvet swordtail :P)

Thanks for your help in advance.

    regards,

    Dhaval

I believe that was a wee bit of sarcasm.

Perhaps a bit of sarcasm, but now the facts Mollies are in the Poecilia family where as Swordtails s are in the Xiphophorus and feeding them color enhancing food can not change their species.

Haha akili, you crack me up... I was just kidding...I just picked two extreme fish to exaggerate the effect of red color enhancers... But hey, that would be something... Still kidding😉😉..

Anyways... Any suggestions on food for blue discus?! Also to add I am looking for somethin that is similarly priced as tetrabits ...

Any one tried ken fish's premium pellets for their discus? Was it difficult to make them to eat it?

You can try DiskusGold Premium Pellets or Hikari Discus Bio-Gold pellets that's what I feed to my discus. If you make your own beef heart mix the you can add supplements like Astaxanthin, paprika and spirulina. These supplements will enhance certain colors.A surefire way is to get some of Al's freeze dried blackworms with spirulina

Thanks Akili!..I think Diskusgold and FDBW are pretty much recommended universally...I am planning to get some FDBW from Al soon...I am going to try aquabites first, see how my discus like it and then introduce them to FDBW (don't want to start with expensive addiction before transition between regular stuff (tetrabits to aquabites)!)

    cheers,

    Dhaval
