Those are gorgeous as adults Al.
I recently acquired a new fish fancy.. Odessa Barbs
I've kept alot of non-discus over the years, and theres some very cool fish out there. While setting up my sons mixed species tank, he picked some of these for his tank. I really liked them...so much I set up a 29 gal by desk with a bunch of them (14). My group is still young but this is what they look like as adults...

These are zippy fish, tolerant of a wide range of water and water temps... They are NOT for a discus tank! Feeding time is like a school of piranha and they are always chasing each other.
I have yet to get a good picture of them, its going to be a real challenge, but I hear they slow down a bit as adults.
Its my hope to breed them, so I set up the tank with some spawning moss and its lightly planted, sand bottom.
If you are looking for an interesting and colorful fish that are not very demanding, check out Odessa Barbs....They are cool little fish, they've made my top ten favorite list.
Tank shot.. with phone...

Its going to take alot of camera to get a better picture...These guys never stop moving!

Did you ever get them to breed? I have a small school and would like them to breed so I can have more. I bought some at a LFS and they had sold out when I went back.
What is that spiral plant on the right that kind of has a scallion looking bulb at the base? I used to have one years ago and wanted to buy another but for the life of me I cannot remember the name of it.

The plant is Crinum. Great plant!
I have not bred them yet. They are doing great in full colors now . I moved them up to my sons 55 gal community tank as they were a bit skittish by themelves in the 29gal. In the 55gal community they are at their ease and just thriving. Really beautiful under appreciated fish.

Odessa's are one of the hardest Fish to photograph IMO, they are just really hard. Photos taken with flash above the tank..
