Don't know, but I'm curious about it as well.
I found some vinyl tubing at the hardware store but it's so rigid compared with the python? What kind of tubing is the python?

Take a piece with you and just match it up.Most hardware store carry in the plumbing dept.Go to your neighborhood home depot or and get Clear Vinyl Tubing, they have them in different sizes. I think 3/4-Inch Diameter by 5/8-Inch will work with the Python.

check the thickness most of the stiffer is thicker tubing.
If you are asking about the material , I think it's just a cheapest PVC material.
It is a lot more flexible for sure
It's unlike the tubing offered at common hardware stores. It's much better. Super flexible and difficult to kink.
Python uses a thicker walled tubing that is somewhere in between 1/2" and 5/8" inside diameter. I've done DIY extensions in the past with HD or Lowe's 1/2" ID reinforced vinyl tubing and a 1/2" connetor. It works okay for draining a tank, but it's just easier to buy the extension from Python (and about the same price).
