Here are a couple of pics of my mechanic's grand father's first truck he bought new with his own money. He has it fixed up now. I've seen him driving around town in it. He hasn't done anything to the finish yet. He's a young guy with kids and his wife is in nursing school. He does a enough business that he can pick and choose but because of his present situation he doesn't have the money. He doesn't want to have it repainted. He wants to have it clear coated to preserve the patina. Excellent idea that I never would have thought of.

I went to respond before reading your whole post Liz and dang near said I'd clear coat it as it is. Fortunately his plans at the end of the post caught my eye before I responded. The kid has a perfect plan IMO, but I probably watch to many car "restoration" shows. I love that style truck.
