Discus prefer the 18" width over the 12" of a 55, so a 65 wouldn't be bad at all IMO. I prefer longer and not as tall, but for free I'd put 6 discus in it.
Hello all have an opportunity to get a 65 gallon tank and stand for free! Dimensions are 3' long ×18" wide × 2' high. Would this be good enough to house 6 or 7 discus thinking about some wild or stendker tefe. All imput welcomed. Thanks Walt

I always thought discus like a tall tank 36 inch isn't ideal but at least it has height

It depends on the size of the Discus you will be buying. Surface area is important for small fish, a longer tank is better for large fish.

Has anyone ever used a tank with these dimensions and had success
Sure. If it holds water it will work.
