That's very interesting Pat.....yes us males go to a lot of trouble to attract the best females

Hi Pam. Those are some fine looking foxes. Looks like they've found a beautiful spot for a holiday....l know l've been there and absolutely loved the place. We have an increased number of foxes inhabiting the suburbs as well, but they are very mangey. They come in peoples back yards feasting on food left out for their pets. We often see them at night in our car headlights.

Like l mentioned, we have a large variety of parrots here, and l love seeing them about. Before l got into keeping fish l actually had two very large aviaries where l use to breed lots of Australian finches, and also the smaller parrots....but that's for another thread.

The Sulphur-Crested Cockatoos are starting to have a big impact around here, and it only takes one sitting from a medium size flock to strip the foliage from a small tree. Some people feed them but then find it hard to get rid of them, especially when they start chewing on their timber outdoor furniture and house trimmings.

Another very common parrot but not as loud or destructive is the Galah. These guys look awesome in a big flock flying overhead. I'll try to get a photo of that some day, but in the meantime heres a bunch of them uprooting grass to find a feed

Very cool parrots. A family member of mine has always been in to birds and has kept many varieties as pets. I used to love going over to his house and seeing all the different kind of exotic birds.

These are rather old pictures but still remain 2 of my favorites:

Wow Ricardo! those are some beautiful shots! Birds of Prey would be up there with some of my favorites, but l was astonished the very first time l saw a hummingbird. It was in Panama while on one of my fishing trips. I couldn't believe how small their nest was, let alone the eggs. The fishing lodge had feeding stations set up for them, and when l first saw them in flight l thought they were rather large moths, until they hoovered perfectly at the feeder. Truly amazing.... l only wish l had better equipment to capture sharper photos

    Thanks for sharing.

Apart from the abundant bird life, which l will share more with you down the track, l also enjoy watching Eastern Grey Kangaroos in the park lands only a short walk away from my home. These guys sometimes make their way on our front lawns and back yards. Believe it or not, only recently one managed to make its way into a local cafe' shop...go figure

Happy 4th of July to all my friends in America

One of my favorite parrots is the Eastern Rosella. Most of the time you see them flying around in pairs. The male is more brightly colored than the female, but l think they both look great. We often get these in our very large gum tree, but also see them on my walks.

The family member I was talking about earlier actually used to have some of these Eastern Rosella's! Pretty cool that you can see them natively. The kangaroo shots are very nice.

Thanks Ricardo. Yes it is very cool to see them in the wild instead of behind cages at the zoo. Only yesterday l was treated to a pair of Crimson Rosellas feeding on seeding grass. Their condition was wonderful and brightly colored
