Thanks guys for all the wonderful comments. My online time is limited and most likely will be none after tomorrow. We leave the ship and continue our adventure in Vancouver.

A few days ago we were in Juneau at the MendenHall Glacier. Here's the glacier. The ice is aged and the glacier does not seem to be growing.

We heard from the bus driver that there was a resident bear named Nikki with three cubs and darn she made an appearance. Pics are not great as it happened very fast.

    Thanks for checking in Pat...
I am no photographer critic...but if those aren't great pics...what is considered good.
You just gave us something we can see in nature which will likely never be seen by the majority of us....so thank you.
Looking forward to your return so stay safe.

Thanks guys, docked safely in Vancouver this morning and from here we begin our Vancouver adventure. We are in Vancouver for two night then work our way to White Wall. Here's a few pictures from a walk we took in the Alaskan rain forest. The forest is very dark so really hard to take pictures. The site is now a wildlife sanctuary and was the site for a logging operation.

Sun shining thru the lichens which are growing all over the trees.

Once inside the building which housed the timber operation there were two native Alaskan's carving a totem pole. The one to the left was the master carver and the other was his nephew. The pole was about 25 feet long and takes nine months to carve.

One of the seasonal guides describing what it is like to leave his family for the season. Once the end of September most of the seasonal people leave before it gets to cold. The population of the towns drops to a 10th of the population during the summer.
