A little update. My drain has been runnig for about two weeks now, and it is fantastic. Even if this project would have ended here, I would be more than satisfied. Being able to drain the tank in 4 minutes is perfect. It's the time it takes me to wipe the glass and vacuum stuff from the bottom.

I will also install the permanent fill line however

Have added some driftwood and epiphytes but is keeping the tank bare bottom for easy maintenance. Hopefully it will be nice when the plants start covering the driftwood.

Most of my fish have colored up. My Snakeskins are still grey though, but they usually take more time right?

I find it interesting that their behaviour has clearly changed since I added driftwood and plants. They are more active, swimming around looking for food around the driftwood. Not that there's much to be found, but the new environment seem to trigger this behaviour.

    Has someone else noticed this?

    A little update.

I am so happy that I put the effort into installing my automatic water changing system. I have never intended to produce the largest discus, but have focused on easy low maintanence discus keeping.

I vacuum the bottom only once a week and at least two times a year I go abroad for about 4 weeks, without a discus-sitter.

I would really like to thank those of you that supported me in this endevour.

Hey. I just set one up on my 125 but would love to see what you came up with. I’m always open to new ideas and there are many more tanks to be plumbed!!
