You are sooo funny about the piranhas homology. But in a certain way you are not too far. When I put my hands to attach the FDBW cube to the glass, all the discus start to bite my hand. And they bite hard. My hand is like a big steak for them.....just not tender at all to be eaten..... LOL.

The satellite is a better light than the monster ray. You just need to play with it.
I have a finnex 24/7 and a finnex stingray
The monster ray is just a combo of red blue green led. I was using a finnex stingray to make the fish "pop" along with my finnex 24/7. Lately I have just been running a custom color on my 24/7 with stingray off which gives the tank a more natural look.
You just need to play with settings on yours and adjust it to your liking. Everyones fish/tank combo is different. That's why adjustable leds are great.
I mush prefer the less light now than the really bright full spectrum. To each their own if course
I'm posting these two pics for a member who's trying to decide on a purchase:

Hi all,
Ok, finally got some better pics, my daughter took them minutes ago. They're extremely friendly now, and always inquisitive and crowding around my hands when I'm cleaning the tank. My first batch of Discus were nothing like this. These are true pets that you can grow close to.

Very pretty!!
They are great looking fish. If your fish are anything like mine though you will see changes in that pecking order over time.
Nice looking fish loon forward to seeing them mature.
If you haven't started a tank journal I would do one. I wish I had from the beginning. I had to make one and backtrack for a few months.
Fish are much like puppies you might not notice the growth as much as people that don't see them everyday. I try to take a good pic of each fish once or twice per month to document growth and change.
