Evolving hardscape

Anyhow, striving for improved hardscape. Getting there, but still not happy. Plants make it sooooo much easier to add dimensions!

I've been doing the same. It's tough. I love rocks but they trap sooo much debris so took them all out. That stump is awesome

Dude, my exact thought on rocks! Also trying to limit wood on sand. Not limiting wood but just contact on sand to also avoid trapped waste. Thanks on the stump!

I minimized my rock to just a few pieces of seiryu. Moved them one day and was astonished as to how much stuff was trapped under. Now I just have sand and manzanita.

I see these amazing scrapes with rock piles and wood. It's quite obvious they are only for photo ops and not an actual discus tank

Tank looks great, what size is it? Looks so deep! I am always playing with my set up. Do you find any dings or scrapes w the wood jutting out? I love that look but have had issues w scapes so I moves all mine to more of the background. Your tank looks very deep though.

What discus are in there? A pair? That a red cover? Looks so nice

Thanks Phil! It's a 150. I bought it used and it already had scratches. I want a new one when we move but will still keep it for maybe a grow. Once in a while a discus might get scraped but rarely. Maybe once a year but usually very minor. In fact, usually it's when I'm moving everything around! Ryan is spot on in regards to pics of perfect hardscapes but totally photo ops! It's my personal challenge to figure one out though... one that's efficient to clean, adds dimensions, hopefully masks/alleviates noticing background (w/o 3D background or many/any rooted plants), yet has the "ooooh yeah" factor I'm looking for.

Thanks RRs, a RT that's barely striated, and a curipea x. 3 RRs are from Uncle Sams (one that is developing a powder blue over whole body... strange but love it) and 2 are from Carolina Discus. I need to stop taking pics with phone and get out the camera. Meanwhile, will post a few more phone pics.

Sorry for subpar pics. Anyhow, decided to go back to having a sword along with tiger lillies. Was trying to get away from that but for now it just seemed right. Planning to replace jagged rocks with smooth, dark rocks... whenever I find them!
