Yeah Liz, as Pat said, the duck sounds real good - I love duck & have done it many times - specially 'duck a l'orange' with Grand Marnier liqueur.

I spent a couple of hours today, looking for restaurants in our area that would be serving a roast turkey dinner tomorrow to celebrate the U.S Thanksgiving day - and found none, except 2 small diners that would have either turkey sandwiches, or the deli-type 'turkey loaf' (fake) meat - wow - was I ever disappointed !

So I guess I'll go to the supermarket & get one of those rotisserie chickens - kind od a bummer, wouldn't you say ?

Well discupaul if in the area of San Antonio, Texas, you are welcome to our Thanksgiving dinner cooked by me. On the menu will be: Juicy oven roasted stuffed turkey w/cornbread stuffing, glazed bake ham, mashed potatoes, steamed white rice, collard greens w/ pork smoked hamhocks, candy glazed bake sweet potatoes, cranberry sauce, crescent dinner rolls, and giblet turkey gravy. The dessert will be southern style homemade sweet potatoes pie or home made pineapple upside down cake served with cool whip. By the way this has been my traditional thanksgiving dinner menu prepared by me for over 46 years throughout the world ( Calif., Guam, New Jersey, Philippines, and Texas- those were the places I was stationed at while 21 years spent serving in the United States Air Force). So you will be getting the best dinner prepared anywhere in world right here at my house, "Happy Thanksgiving" to all.

Our traditional dinner has always included wild rice dressing. Very simple: wild rice, bulk pork sausage (breakfast style), and diced granny smiths, then baked, that's all. A family favorite.

Believe it or not, I'm not to crazy about the Thanksgiving meal like most. It's just another meal to me, or should be. Talk to me about a honey baked Christmas ham though and I'll get giddy. We had the normal traditional stuff though. 1 deep fried turkey and another done in the oven. Nothing compares with the deep fried bird. Still have some family members that won't budge on their traditional oven cooked turkey as they scarf it down while having to drink gallons of water since it's always so dry. I'll never not have deep fried turkey on thanksgiving from here on out, been doing it for at least 5 years now. If you haven't deep fried a bird you are totally missing out! Also had a normal dressing and an oyster dressing (dressing = stuffing around these parts), rice and giblet gravy, home grown butter (lima) beans, biscuits, multiple other casseroles, sweet potato, and green bean dishes and finished it off with home cooked pecan and apple pies with vanilla ice cream.

I have a new idol and his name is Roland from San Antonio.
We had a nice, traditional Thanksgiving dinner too but that spread hit on every note for me.
    Wow.
