    Default A Stitch in Time...

Finally set out some Christmas Cheer last night in the yard. Played with Streaking the light. Its hand held camera, focus and slow shutter speed, move camera. Abstract fun.

Those are cool Al. I am planning on playing with lights and my camera as my Christmas decorations go up.

They are cool indeed but not what rings my bell. The one I like best is the one that is the least abstract...the third one.

Thanks everyone. You can pretty much do this with any camera in some capacity. Just kind of fun to play around with.

I love it Al. Back many years ago with film camera I used to do this in early 70's by going to top of twin peaks in San Francisco to take pictures of the Bay Bridge and downtown SF using this method. you brought back some good childhood memories.

    thanks for sharing

Clearly I was sleeping and missed this post. Those are really neat, like light painting almost. Have you tried similar hand holding a light source with a static camera?

I've heard light painting used mainly 2 ways. One being sort of like this where someone is moving a light around, spelling something in the air, etc and it comes out as streaks as seen above. To me, personally I more think of light painting as you would light different areas of a car or object in a dark scene to illuminate it from the rest of the image. Or lighting a foreground in a astro image. I just use it interchangeably in case someone uses it for the other one, they both work really.
