Default Giving the parents some time off

One of my breeding pairs of blue diamonds are egg laying machines. I just removed about 100 fry off their backs a week ago and they just laid another batch of eggs today. My problem is that the male is the primary care giver of the fry and he doesn't eat much and takes a beating when the fry are attached to him. How often do some of you give your parents a break between spawns and for how long?

Good idea to separate the fish so that they get a break. After a large spawn, I will often separate the parents for 3 - 4 weeks so that they recovery - and produce an even larger spawn next time.

At my age, everything is irritating.

Thanks Willie, I'll toss the female into a separate tank to let the male recover. I'm sure he's going to be ticked at me when his female is taken away.
