Handheld quick shot with a heavy 300mm...manual focus..

So close!! We have a few pairs of Cardinals in the yard... caught this one fleeing the Sunflower seeds...

Small BIF are really tuff. I think the top one is pretty cool.

Super hard to shoot for me the few I've tried, nice first shot Al! Small bird too! I need to bump my shutter more I guess, but my camera is not the best at handling noise, at least compared to the new stuff. I'll remedy that soon...wink wink. Speed of any sort should no longer be an issue.

Pat its really not that hard.. ..seriously thats why I post so many shots of birds in flight! NOT! Lol...its called "luck" and the smaller the bird the more "luck" I need! Especially with a 30 year old lens!

Nice shots Al. Cardinals are suppose to really like safflower seeds if you're interested in trying to see even more of them.

Funny, I was thinking something about hummingbirds before I say Rick's comment too. That's very scary to me.
