    Default Cloudy eyes have became pop eyes

    1. Please explain the problems with your fish. When did you notice the problems and did anything unusual happen that you think started them?

    Last week, eye started getting cloudy. Treated Furan 2 for an entire week, now eyes have become pop eyes.


    2. Symptoms (i.e. turning dark, excess slime, not eating, clamped fins, flashing, darting, clamped gills, white/yellow/green poop, hiding, headstanding or tailstanding, white on tips of fins, rotting or fungus, blisters/white zits on fish, bloated, cloudy eyes, wounds).


    Popeyes and stress bars visible, kind of dark.

    3. What medications/ treatments have you already tried and what were the results. Include dosage and duration of treatment.

    treated with furan 2 for a week.



    Tank/Water

    4. Tank size and ages, numbers and sizes of fish.

    it is in its own quarantine tank 10 gallons. main tank has 8 adult discus 55 gallon.

    5. Water change regime (What percentage and how often).

    50% every 2 days, 100% once a week.

    6. How long has tank been running? Is it bare bottom? If you have substrate, what type and how deep is it?

    Tank running for over 1 year.

    7. Do you age your water? If you do for how long and what is the ph swing.

    has a ph swing, I don't remember. Water is aged.

    8. Parameters and water source;

    Note: Water Parameters are important in diagnosing problems within a tank. If you don't own test kits for the following information, you can purchase them, test your parameters and post this info as soon as possible.


    - temp 84

    - ph _____

    - ammonia reading ____

    - nitrite reading ____

    - nitrate reading ____

    What type of water or combinations of water sources do you use? If it is an RO/tap/well water mix, please list percentages in the mix.

    - well water ____

    - municipal water yes

    - RO water ____


    9. Any new fish, plants or inverts added recently.

    no

    10. Please tell us what you feed your fish and how often. This can be critical information for solving the problem so be as specific as you can.


    fdbw, bw flakes

    11. Include any pictures or videos you have which shows the symptoms. If you can't add them to this post, please provide a link to them.

    Saw cloudy eyes 1 week ago, treated with furan 2 for a entire week. Cloudy eyes have become pop eyes now. What should i treat?

    Jeff can you post some pictures of the fish. Also when the fish got cloudy eyes was there any other issues ...like cloudy fins or patches of excess slime coat?

    The discus that had cloudy eyes only had cloudy eyes symptoms and it changed into pop eye.

    I have treated it with kanaplex and it slowly is going but not fully.



    This is another discus that seems to have a hole in its fin. The spot use to be a spot and then a hole popped up.

    Jeff,
    These things you are experiencing are almost always linked to water quality and tank hygiene. I think you need to look at your filtration and see if its adequate, step your tank maintenance. For instance the pic you posted .. the bottom there looks like its breeding alot of potential problems. Try wiping down the tank walls and bottom before your water changes. A little algae is not a worry but food and feces just breeds problems..

    Should I treat the discus with something, because it is ripped, and before it ripped it looked like a fungus of some sort.
