    Default Orchids

Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square Pa. has an Orchid Extravaganza every year. This is an amazing place to visit anytime of year and I drive up to Longwood 4 or five times a year.
The first two shots are from the Conservatory but there are many greenhouse exhibits off the main building.
The orchid shots I took playing with light and dark BGs and then converting to all black or white in LR. (The Miltonia, first orchid, was a double exposure, in camera.)

Wow Stan, That places definitely is amazing! I know you have posted pics from there before. I have to make it there sometime and explore it. I really enjoy botanical gardens, photography aside.

The orange and red flowers on black backgrounds are really stunning. They are all nice but I like those 2 the best followed by the last pic in close 3rd place.

    Great work!

    Thanks Al.
The orange on black and purple on white are both Masdevallia orchids. They are originally from the highlands of S. America and Mexico. Very delicate and one of my favorites.

These are gorgeous Stan. The third image is a double exposure? I have yet to try that. Were you playing with special effects on the first image in post #4?

I need to play with my orchids when they bloom next.

Looks like an epic garden. Love that orange one! And the last pink one, those are cool with the long blooms.

So you orchid growers, whats the trick to getting them to rebloom after they bloom? The two I have send out new stem growth constantly but past that initial bloom, nothing in the form of another flower that I can remember. I love taking photos of them, such a great flower type.

What type of orchid is it. Post a pic of the plant here.
Lots of orchids require a relative period of cold or dryness to spike, so it depends on the type.
