Default Growth at the base of fin

    1. Please explain the problems with your fish. When did you notice the problems and did anything unusual happen that you think started them?

I have an angelfish that is growing some strange finger like things on the base of one of its pectoral fin. They are green in color. It was not always like this. It was perfectly fine. One day I noticed a bit of redness around it. So I moved it to a quarantine tank and treated it with Multi-cure (meth blue, malachite green, acriflavine) and seachem kanaplex separately. The redness went away. However, something else started. They are little growths at the base of the fin. It doesn't swim funny or behave funny. Perfectly healthy and eats fine too. Can anyone help in identifying what is going on ?

    2. Symptoms (i.e. turning dark, excess slime, not eating, clamped fins, flashing, darting, clamped gills, white/yellow/green poop, hiding, headstanding or tailstanding, white on tips of fins, rotting or fungus, blisters/white zits on fish, bloated, cloudy eyes, wounds).

No other symptoms. Just small finger like growing things on the base of the fin. They are dark in color.

    3. What medications/ treatments have you already tried and what were the results. Include dosage and duration of treatment.

    Kanaplex
    Blue planet multi cure
    No effect.

    6. How long has tank been running? Is it bare bottom? If you have substrate, what type and how deep is it?

    1 year

    7. Do you age your water? If you do for how long and what is the ph swing.

    No

    8. Parameters and water source;

Note: Water Parameters are important in diagnosing problems within a tank. If you don't own test kits for the following information, you can purchase them, test your parameters and post this info as soon as possible.

    - temp _____ 28 degree cesisu

    - ph _____ 7.2

    - ammonia reading ____ 0

    - nitrite reading ____ 0

    - nitrate reading ____ 0

    - RO water ____

    9. Any new fish, plants or inverts added recently.

    No

    10. Please tell us what you feed your fish and how often. This can be critical information for solving the problem so be as specific as you can.

Sera discus pellets once a day
    Tropical flakes once a day

    11. Include any pictures or videos you have which shows the symptoms. If you can't add them to this post, please provide a link to them.Hi guys,

Try this one, also try on a different browser. You might have to wait a few seconds after the page finishes loading for the video to start.

I have seen things similar. Angels are prone to growths on the lips thats thought to be viral, and though I don't think this is Lymphocystis, that too causes various kinds of lumps and growths.

i had an angelfish with a growth in the exact same place. it just lived with it, never got better, never got worse, and didnt really seem to affect the overall health or activity of the fish. that doesnt really mean anything, or give u an answer, but unless u are sure about what it is u cant really do much about it or treat it effectively (if it can be treated, or even needs to be).
