Default Old Car City and Ga's Version of the Grand Canyon

I went on a photoshoot this weekend with my camera club to Old Car City in White Ga and the place called "the little Grand Canyon in Ga", also known as Providence Canyon State Park.

Old Car City bills itself as the oldest junkyard in US, about 80 years old. It is 35 acres of junk cars in vary stages of decay and arranged in various ways. If you like junk it is a paradise. I went so I could play with HDR (High Dynamic Range) and composition. It was really hard to figure out what to shoot. There is so much. I decided to focus on cars which were 1950s vintage and older and old trucks. I also decided to focus on headlights and old glass. If I went again I would try and do more interesting aspects of the cars.

    A small sampling.

Would have never expected to find a place like this in Ga.

I do not know how deep the canyon was. All I know is I couldn't see the bottom. Had to stay away from the edges, way too unstable.

I loved this old truck entrapped by trees. Here is the HDR version.

But I think this suits the subject manner better.

Thanks Ralph, about 18 hours on the road over a three day weekend and yes, the two places were phenomenal as you can see. I will post some more pics later.

I saw the first image and nothing else when I first opened the thread, and made up my mind then that it was the best of the group and I still feel that way! Really nice tons and details in that one, I love it. Although that second headlight photo in the last post is awesome.

The last one is cool. Really fits the image, great PP on that.

Thanks Matt This was a different way of shooting for me. Most of the shots were bracketed; Five shots with 2.0 stops between then merged as an HDR.

Love the Canyon Photo's, not sure about the car pics. Nothing wrong with the pics themselves, I just kinda shake my head and wonder why it doesn't get cleaned up.

Thanks Rick, would have never expected to see such a canyon in Georgia. As for the cars, it's a junk yard and a clever way for the owners to make money. It is a very popular site for photographers I understand. The place did grow on me after a while.

The dogwood was blooming in Ga and managed to get one desprite the wind. Wind and macro lens do not play well together.
