I assume the sick fish is in a hospital tank. I would only use kanamycin for a bacteria infection. Didn't he use metro to cleanup the flagellates already, I see no reason to put the fish thru it again.

I am helping out a friend, one of his Discus had internal flagellates and Epsom salt treatment helped after a couple weeks looks like the discus developed a secondary bacteria infection. He started treating with Metro, but I advised him that he should be treating with an antibiotic.
The discus is showing pus discharge and not eating.
I remember reading once that Al was recommending a combination of Metro and Kanamycin, or should he just go with Kanamycin?
Is there a better choice med?
No other fish showing same symptoms at this time.

That combo is a very good mix of antibiotics.Kanamycin and furan 2 is great mix especially if you don't know for sure what bacteria your dealing with.
This is the first time i've ever heard of epson salt being used for internal flagellets. That's a job for metro.
By the way is anyone was wondering, the kanamycin treatment worked, the fish started eating and being more active on the 3rd treatment.
Thanks David for the followup, I had success using Kanamycin also. Angel Plus sells it in 100% power if one ever needs it.
